This Fourth of July, Democrats Can Barely Hide Their Contempt for America

This Fourth of July, Americans should be celebrating freedom, independence, courage, sacrifice, and the greatest nation mankind has ever built.

Instead, the modern Democratic Party is once again acting like patriotism is something to be embarrassed about.

They want power over America, but they do not seem to love America. They want to govern this country, lecture this country, regulate this country, tax this country, censor this country, and redesign this country from the ground up. But when it comes time to simply honor America, defend America, and thank God for America, too many Democrats suddenly go cold.

That tells you everything.

The modern left does not just criticize America. Real patriots can criticize their country. Real patriots can admit mistakes. Real patriots can push for improvement. But today’s Democratic Party has gone far beyond honest criticism. It has built an entire political identity around grievance, resentment, guilt, and disgust.

To them, America is not a miracle. It is a problem.

They look at the flag and see oppression. They look at the Founders and see villains. They look at the Constitution and see an obstacle. They look at law enforcement and see enemies. They look at secure borders and see cruelty. They look at capitalism and see greed. They look at traditional families, faith, hard work, personal responsibility, and national pride like they are outdated evils that must be torn down.

Then they act shocked when normal Americans believe Democrats hate the country.

Maybe they should stop acting like it.

For years, the left has told Americans that this nation is racist, sexist, greedy, corrupt, oppressive, stolen, broken, and illegitimate. They have taught children to view America through shame. They have treated the national anthem like a protest opportunity. They have treated the American flag like a partisan symbol. They have treated people who love this country as backward, uneducated, dangerous, or extreme.

But the truth is simple: loving America is not extreme.

What is extreme is being handed the freest, richest, most powerful, most generous country in the history of the world and still waking up every morning angry that it exists.

America gave these people the freedom to speak, protest, publish, vote, organize, sue, campaign, become wealthy, run for office, and insult the very nation that protects those rights. Then they use those freedoms to tell everyone else how terrible America is.

That is not courage. That is spoiled contempt.

The Fourth of July exposes the divide clearly. On one side are Americans who still understand what this country means. They fly the flag. They honor veterans. They teach their children the Declaration of Independence. They understand that liberty was bought with blood. They know America is not perfect, but they also know America is worth defending.

On the other side are the scolds. The complainers. The professional victims. The academic radicals. The media elites. The politicians who cannot say “God bless America” without sounding like they swallowed a lemon. They do not want to celebrate Independence Day. They want to turn it into another sermon about everything they think is wrong with the country.

Enough.

America does not owe the Democratic Party an apology. America does not owe the left a complete redesign. America does not need to be “fundamentally transformed” by people who cannot even bring themselves to be grateful for it.

This country was built by farmers, soldiers, workers, pioneers, builders, mothers, fathers, inventors, preachers, entrepreneurs, and ordinary citizens who believed freedom was worth fighting for. It was not built by activists whining into microphones about how oppressed they are while living better than most of the planet.

America is the nation that defeated tyranny, liberated continents, fed the hungry, rebuilt enemies, created unmatched prosperity, defended free speech, protected religious liberty, and gave millions of people the chance to rise from nothing.

That is not something to apologize for.

That is something to celebrate.

If Democrats want to know why so many Americans think they hate this country, they should look in the mirror. They have spent years sneering at American history, American values, American workers, American borders, American police, American churches, American families, and American pride.

They cannot spit on the flag Monday through Saturday and then pretend to respect it on the Fourth of July.

Real patriotism is not complicated. You can love America and still want to improve it. You can admit America has made mistakes and still know it is the greatest nation on earth. You can debate policy without despising the people who built this country.

But the modern Democratic Party has forgotten that. Or worse, it never believed it.

So this Fourth of July, while the left complains, lectures, and sulks, the rest of America should celebrate louder. Fly the flag higher. Light the fireworks. Thank the veterans. Read the Declaration. Teach your children that America is not a shameful place. It is a blessed place.

And remind every politician, activist, professor, and media talking head who seems embarrassed by this country of one simple truth:

America does not need to earn their love.

They need to earn the right to lead America by proving they love it.
